“ Was looking for a decent place to eat while visiting. We were headed to another restaurant down the street when we passed Baker and Wife. Glad we changed our plans and went in. Great food and good service... highly recommend ”
“ In short, this is a small, modern eatery that deserves your time. It has a plush and homelike atmosphere, (with each table being adorned with a cute flower) and with some attentive staff and good rotating meal options to keep things fresh. The appetizers were quite good, with the calamari and flatbread being good offerings. It was a bit slow for given our Friday dining time and they only serve soda in cans, but I can give the benefit of the doubt in light of how good our mains were. The octopus puttanesca spaghetti nero and Korean meatloaf created transcendent subversions of modern cuisine items ”

“ We ate here about 5 weeks ago and it was one of the few restaurants in the Sarasota area that was recommended to us, but for one reason or another it took us awhile to try it. I'm glad we finally did. I have to say I can see what some of the hype is about. The atmosphere was charming and the food was a pleasant surprise. We had the fennel salad (wow!), we had the truffle burger, focaccia breads (wow again!), and the meatloaf. The food had care put into it and was very good. My only critique was the sauce on the meatloaf was a little too sweet and overpowering, but with that being said great little spot to enjoy some really tasty eats. You definitely want to make a reservation, for they are a busy place. ”
“ Winner Winner Chicken Dinner, GOAT, OMG, SLAP MY ASS AMD CALL ME SALLY, So good you're slap your mama!!!! We came specifically because of the fried chicken staff meal that is now on their menu on Thursday nights only. The server greeted us immediately. Drinks were delivered immediately and his checking back and being in communication for the entrée coming out was awesome. That plate of food, the staff meal fried chicken dinner, was one of the best meals I have had in my life. Chicken was second to none and hands-down in my entire life. I have never had fried chicken that good before. The mashed potatoes that the chicken was sitting perfectly perfect portion and was as delicious not at the level of the chicken. This meal can easily be categorized as CRAVEABLE!!!! Ambiance was perfect! I am so glad that it is not Snowbird season and I can get back in without worried worried about getting a reservations many times until this November. I have to note that this is my fifth or six time there and I have always always always been extremely satisfied with the food and service that I get there. This is a hidden gem that should have Michelin stars every year. I tipped my toque to the chef and the amazing job that he has done with this restaurant. Mic Drop experience!!! ”
“ Absolutely loved our dinner here. Started with a classic Caesar salad and a fresh tomato burrata salad. You immediately knew a chef was in charge when both were served at room temperature, not icy cold and pre made. The Caesar dressing was divine and served with white anchovies, no debate they are the only kind! For dinner we enjoyed the pan fried salmon prepared with tomatillo sauce, avocado, haricot verts, grilled corn, fresh tomato, arugula, lemon. Delicious. Perfectly cooked salmon. We also devoured the beef short ribs fettuccine, braised beef ribs, mushrooms, green peas, parmesan, sour cream, dill. It was perfect! Love the ambiance and vibe inside! Our server was knowledgeable and very helpful. Cannot wait to return with friends! ”
“ I don't always give five stars but when I do, it's for places like this- local, fresh, and creative establishments! Our party of three opted to sit outside (wasn't too hot because it was evening and it's much too loud for conversation inside). Our server did a great job of explaining the specials and being attentive without overdoing it. We started with refreshing Apple cucumber martinis (DELISH), calamari and seasoned focaccia. For my main, I chose the short rib fettuccine that featured some yummy mushrooms and freshly made pasta with some amazing chewiness. Overall, make yourself a reservation and get yourself here asap! ”
“ Pleasant surprise at Baker and Wife. Situated outside of the glitz and glamour of downtown Sarasota, Baker and Wife is a cozy well put together restaurant perfect for a nice causal night out. Great Service, Great Food and a great night at Baker and Wife. We started off with a pizza that was cooked perfectly, followed by some excellent entrees. We ordered the grilled chicken, tiger prawn shrimp with sweet potato ramen noodles and the short rib fettuccine....they were all delicious. Not a morsel of food was left. We'll definitely be back We'll done Baker & Wife ”
